Ryan Maifield, one of the hottest young drivers in R/C, spent some time with our cameras to share some fundamental insight on track, vehicle and driving preparation. CHECK OUT THE YOUTUBE VIDEO.

Learn from one of the worlds fastest drivers, in Part 1 of 2 a day is spent with Ryan analyzing a new track, preparing for that first run while looking ahead toward qualifying and main events. Fundamental aspects which drive your racing program can determine the wins and losses. Ryan is a championship winning driving that began racing as a youngster at 7 years old. Ryan cautions that a racing program is an evolving process and there is always room for improvement, however, some of the habitual preparation that goes into racing at the highest level should not be overlooked. Team Associated wins 10 of 11 classes on the Florida State Super Cup 1/10 off-road racing series

The Super Cup series is divided by Spring and Fall sessions throughout the calendar year to determine the Florida State Champion in 1:10 electric offroad. Team Associated again dominates in the state of Florida by winning 10 out of the 11 championship classes offered in 2009.

Team Associated, JConcepts drivers Jason Ruona, Paul Wynn and JR Mitch won the 2WD modified, 4WD Modified, Modified Truck, and Modified Short Course championships, respectively. Precision driving, superior equipment, and dedication is what it takes to become a winner and Team Associated, Reedy, LRP and JConcepts equipment remains at the top each year.

At the awards banquet, two Associated SC10 kits were given as part of a generous prize give-away to a few lucky winners.

2010 Snowbird Nationals in Orlando, Florida

The 2010 Snowbird Nationals in Orlando, Florida is said to be the largest RC event in the world with over 400 drivers and more than 600 cars. This race features carpet oval and carpet course racing. Check out the video provided by Xtreme RC of the Mod Rubber Tire A-Main.

Maifield Leads Team Associated to 4 Titles at CRCRC

Each year the indoor offroad racing season begins in Columbus, Ohio and this year was no exception. Taking place over two weekends racers are treated to both electric and gas racing on the high-grip Midwest clay surface. With over 440 entries at the electric event and over 250 entries for the gas event the CRCRC track gets thousands of laps over the two weekends of action.

Electric

Two of the highest contested classes at the electric event were the stock buggy and stock truck classes. Team Associated drivers Rob Meyer and Doug Yunker proved to be the class of their fields respectively by claiming the TQ and victory with their LRP/Reedy powered B4 and T4s. Both drivers utilized the new LRP X12 Stock Spec motors and Reedy #709 35C batteries.

Congratulations also goes out to Team Associated driver Ryan Cavalieri, who finished in the runner-up spot in all three modified classes. Having swept all three classes two different times in years past, Cavalieri is always a force to be reckoned with at CRCRC.

Gas
At the gas event, Ryan Maifield started the year off with a bang by claiming the top qualifying position in the highly contested 1/8 Pro Buggy. Unfortunately, while battling for the lead, a few tangles with lapped traffic cost Maifield the opportunity to make good on his TQ effort and he eventually finished third.

With extra motivation from a disappointing buggy main, Maifield started from the third spot in the Truggy A Main and showed why he's the 2x defending ROAR National Truggy Champion by quickly making his way to the front. Getting great fuel mileage out of his Reedy 121 VR engine, Maifield pitted at 9:00 in the 45-minute main event to finish almost a lap clear of the nearest competitor.

Claiming the fourth title on the weekend for Team Associated was privateer Michael Malott in the Sportsman 1/8 Buggy class. Michael qualified in the fifth position, but a steady drive saw him work his way in to the lead and bring home the victory.

Special thanks goes out to the Columbus Radio Control Racing Club for another great event that saw great racing and very consistent track conditions from the start to the end of the event. With over 700 entries in two weeks, it's clear that R/C racing in the Midwest is headed in the right direction.
